Above Average
Star Cast: Mahesh Babu, Anushka, Prakash Raj, Sunil, Shafi and others

Director: Trivikram Srinivas

Music: Mani Sharma

Release Date: 07 October, 2010

Prince Mahesh Babu arrives after a long gap of three years. His last film was Athidhi. Mahesh Babu’s fans have very high expectation from Khaleja. Has Mahesh and the director managed to fulfill the expectations of the fans? Let us take a look.

Story:
Sitarama Raju (Mahesh Babu) is a cab driver. Circumstances lead him to a remote village in Rajashtan. There Mahesh Babu is sucked into a problem that is not of his making.
Raju is there on a mission. It is to locate the whereabouts of a family of Dilwar Singh who was killed while traveling in his cab. Raju meets TV journalist Sunil in Girdalpur village and seeks his help. Raju comes in contact with Subhashini (Anushka). However she proves to be an iron leg as far as Raju is concerned.
Rao Ramesh is a baba who is looking for almighty intervention to save the village. He waits for a man to come to the village and save it from destruction. The village water resources are polluted due to industrial waste from the plastic factory of Prakash Raj. Rao Ramesh sends his disciple Shafi to search for this man.
When Raju lands there Rao Ramesh is convinced that he is none other than the man God has destined and sent to save the village.
We have a villain in the from of Prakash Raj. Subhasihini’s father Tanikella who has a huge business dfealing with Prakash Raj wants to give his daughter in marriage to Prakash Raj’s son.
The film then takes several twists and turns with Raju being sucked into this fully. How he saves the villagers and comes out successfully is the basis for the remaining part of the story.

Performance:
Mahesh Babu is a treate to watch. He looks young and fabulous. His new looks and style make him that much more attractive to everyone. Mahesh Babu also coems up with a good performance and his dialogue delivery is neat and his comic timing is good. In fact the title Mahesh Khaleja is apt as it is a Mahesh show all the way from start to finish.
Anushka looks good but she is not as impressive as she was in other films. She also does not rock that well with Mahesh and their combination has not exactly set the screen on fire.
Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, Shafi and others do a good job. Prakash Raj is impressive in his brief role. Sunil’ comedy is okay. Brahmanandam makes a guest appearance. The others do their job as required.
Mani Sharma’s music is okay but the backgeound score is not that effective. Only a couple of songs are impressive – ‘Sada Shive… ‘being the number one followed by ‘Makathika Maya Maschindra…’

Analysis:
Mahesh Khaleja reminds us of his earlier films like Athidhi, Athadu and even Pokiri. The film begins on a sloe note. The introduction of the hero is weak and screenplay is confusing.
Director Trvikram Srinivas has not done full justice to the story and comes up with an average film when the fans were expecting a blockbuster movie like Pokiri and Athadu.
There is too much violence in the film and the climax is very long and it drags a lot.
The film comes with a message. That is that every one of us must do something good to the society.
 Verdict:
Mahesh Khaleja may please all Prince fans immensely as he looks very dashing and debonair. Overall the film may fall short of the expectations of the fans as well as the audience.
The fans who waited for three years surely expect more than what Trivkram has rolled out.  Still the film is a good entertainer and makes for a decent watch on a leisurely weekend.
